We headed up to La Jolla to spend a day at the beach! Paetin was SO excited for this, and she really did have a fun time from arrival to departure. (: First of all, if you go to the San Diego area, I really recommend this place for your beach day adventures. We have gone here two out of three times, and when compared to Mission Bay, [though also fun] I'd choose this hands down! Whether you have little kids in the sand, snorkel/scuba dive, you want to boogie board, or even if you just want to have a fun park day, this is your place! I love La Jolla shores! LoL.
So my lovely husband isn't all that comfortable with water, but he was an awesome sport and let my parents and I head out with the snorkel gear, while he had the three little girls on the beach! Luckily, we parked our stuff pretty close to the water, so Paetin could play on the shore, Camy in the sand, and Rylee was able to be a beach babe on the blankets with Eddy. He is such a champ! (: Anyways, obviously since I was out in the water, I didn't get a ton of photos, but know, fun was had! We were hoping to see the leopard sharks again, but they aren't in for the season yet. So we saw one. LoL. We DID, however, see a ton of six foot-long guitar fish [pretty awesome], and the biggest rays I've ever seen! They had to be at least six feet long from nose to the end of the stinger, and I wouldn't guess any less that four feet in wing span. I was such a chicken, if you ask my parents they will tell you I was so scared. And they're right, I was. I was not expecting such huge rays. And only being 3-4 feet above them, I couldn't help but think, "Man, if I piss these guys off somehow, they could just put that stinger right into me. .". I know, not likely, but you can never guess what they're thinking! We also saw a rather large school of fish. So even though there were no sharks near the shores yet, it was definitely not wasted trip. (:
Paetin had plenty of fun playing in the shallow water, while collecting shells and putting them in her cup up by Eddy. Now Camy was also having fun, playing in the sand, and dumping Paetin's collection out ever so often. Thankfully, there was no fighting over this situation. (;
We took off from the beach and went up to the cliffs. In The Shell Shop, they have a tunnel through a door that leads into one of the caves. Unless you suba dive, or kayak, you don't get into these any other way. It was pretty fun, and that tunnel just kept going down! (: After that little adventure we hiked up onto the top of the caves to check out the wild sea lions. The alpha male was being one loud dude, so Paetin took great pleasure in barking back at him. (: This was, as you can tell, another wonderful vacation day. And I am also looking forward to coming back here. If you can't tell, I really love the San Diego area, and I'm quite glad it is only a few hour drive from us!

Can't beat La Jolla for the beach, except maybe Malibu which is farther up the coast. One things I truly miss is the beaches down there, nothing like them up here for sure! I always loved walking the beach at sunset. The Coronado beach used to be a good one too.
