Changes in the House!

As you all know, we just got a new house. My mom and dad came down about two weeks ago, and man oh man did we change things around! The new paint made a big enough difference, but new carpet upstairs, tiling down, and even appliances were just "WOWING"!

First: The Paint.
Now we didn't have the painters do the trim or the ceilings, since we were redoing the floors, we new the trim would be getting dinged up, and well.. the ceilings really only have a few spots from the previous owners that would just be easy peesy to fix as we have time later down the road. I mean c'mon.. I can do SOME things. (:
We chose a yellow/cream color for our man color. And a green (never had green walls before, but love it!) as an accent in the living areas, and a deep red (of course) as accents in the two main rooms. (: Now Paetin's room of course was done to match her bedding. It looks great! We figure, whether we have a boy or a girl, we have two twin beds in there, and well, we'll have two girls in there either way. So it'll last.  Now, the toddler room, (or Camy's soon to be) is painted to match Camy's bedding for her toddler sets. She'll be in there for at least a year or two before any changes, so we wanted to make it hers for sure. (: Then if we have a boy, he'll move in there, or if we have another girl, Paetin will take that room in time. (:

We also didn't paint the bathrooms. I just haven't decided what I want to do with those, but really, those are small easy rooms to do. Talk about an easy job.. even though I despise painting at most times LoL. I for sure want to do something fun for the upstairs bathroom for the kids though.
Our kitchen is, yes, yellow. We have a very big kitchen, and I love the color of the cabinets, but the yellow really does lighten it up. Trust me, pictures don't do it justice!!

Second: The Carpet.
Seriously. I can NOT even begin to tell you how much I just LOVED our upstairs as soon as I saw the new carpet. Obviously, I liked the house before, but man. The difference is just unbelievable.. though.. you can see it here, so you believe. (: It was so soft to touch too. I am so glad that we replaced it before moving in rather than waiting. I just love the contrast the darker carpet adds to everything in the house. Not to mention, the longer texture feels so nice on bare feet! Though of course Eddy wouldn't know, he's never bare! d:

Third: The Tile.
My, oh my the tile. Talk about an adventure! First we were going to do it, then we wanted it done, then we wanted to do it again, and then it was a discussion. To pay someone, or to do it ourselves. Well. Mom being Mom, we did it ourselves! I LOVE that she is so great about setting out to do it herself! And I love helping her along the way. But I have to say, this was one emotional project for us all. Though the pay off was huge, and we save a couple grand in my dad's wallet while doing it! (: It looks great! Though our planned three day project, took a whole week, tears, blood, cuts, blisters, and a whole lot of cemented body parts, our floor is done an "cooler" than carpet! Note, we have to cock around the edges still, but that seems like nothing after everything else we've put into it all. My mom is a master genius! And she did a great job with help along the way. (:

We don't have any furniture downstairs yet, and not many things are hung or put away..but hey, we have time right? Well.. at least 18 days until we leave for WA. And c'mon, if you know me, it HAS to be done before a vacation. (:

  1. *giggle* you caulk the edges, not cock them. ;)
