My SIL Janel did a product review for Minky Couture. These are amazingly soft and snuggly blankets, the type that are addicting! But they're also a huge hole in the wallet after bought! So Janel and I set out on the project of making them!! Paetin Leigh's was first for me! She picked out her top print, which is just so cute! She loved it right away! She doesn't go to bed without it, and it's always there with her snuggled up on the couch when she watches a movie! I absolutely adore how much she loves it!
Camy Raye's blanket came next! I had to wait to do hers, when I ordered the fabric for their blankets, the minky rose for Camy's came with two holes almost right in the center. ): This was so sad. But alas, they sent me new fabric, and I even got to keep the yard with the holes in it. This was awesome cuz it was a huge piece of fabric and I was able to use it to make some lovies!! I made one for Cameryn with a Winnie the Pooh trim, and another for my nephew Ethan with dark chocolate trim left over from Paetin's minky! I got extra projects out of the deal! I plan to make a lovie for my friend Annie's little man, Ben, as well! (: When Cameyrn's material came I got right on the task! It was done immediately and she can't sleep without either this or her lovie now she is so used the the material. <3 Oddly enough, both of the girls' minkies match their rag quilts! Kinda nice that they have their own colors.
Since Cameryn is just bout six months, I decided it was time to get some baby food made for when she was ready to start! It was actually pretty fun to make! I love that I know EVERYTHING put into her food! Not to mention how much cheaper it is than buying. First I made carrots and spinach. Though now I've made potatoes and green beans as well! She finally starting eating solids for real yesterday! It's great to see her grow and learn such new things! (: Can't wait for what she brings to my life next!
Next I opted to etch a mirror for our house! My SIL Janel also gave me this idea! LoL. She etched a bunch of mirrors for the centerpieces for their wedding reception! I chose to put our last name with our married establishing year in the bottom! (Polansky; Est. 2009) I love it! I added a picture of Edward and I to the left, and one of the girls together on the right! I just love the way it turned out! It'd be fun to etch something else, just wish I had something to do! LoL
Then FINALLY the material for MY minky blanket came! The chocolate minky rose I used had been on back order so I had to wait a few weeks to receive it! It's funny, cuz originally I just wanted to make one for myself, and then decided the girls would each need one so they wouldn't steal mine! I love it! Eddy brings it into our room every night cuz he knows how much I just love to snuggle with it. Secretly Im sure he does too! He just can't admit it! d: I don't have any new projects going on.. I just have to make another twin size rag quilt for Paetin's room. She'll be getting her new bunk beds sometime this week! (:

Hey Nomi! I got your question in my comments but wasn't sure how to reach you to answer so I hope you don't mind me coming here to do it... I think it would be fine to do the measurements you suggested if you're going to do a drawstring type elastic because you won't need it as long in that case. The only problem I found doing elastic all the way around is that the fabric around the bottom comes out a bit more bunchy looking instead of lying flat. Think of a fitted sheet... they have elastic on the short ends or just in the corners but never along the long side and I think this is why. But I totally understand what you're trying to do and I think it's smart. If I think of another way to make that happen I'll let you know but good luck and let me know how they turn out! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the tips! I ordered some material and it'll be here Friday! I can't wait to get on my changing pad covers, and my boppy cover (inspired by you!) I'll be more than set for my next baby thanks to you! Spoiled little things I have! LoL
