Just over eleven months ago, Edward and I moved our family down to Arizona. It was just a journey getting rid of the extra stuff, packing what we wanted, and trying to find furniture to fill a house! Edward's Nana && Gpa had an extra oak coffee table in the garage that they offered for us to take if we wanted it. Us being beyond poor jumped on the opportunity! We like darker woods so we figured we'd just get around to sanding && re-staining it when we got the chance. A small and easy enough project.. Or so I thought. I must've forgotten, for whatever reason, that I married a sleep-o-holic! LoL. Eddy wasn't working when we first moved in, so one day he says, "I'm just going to take two or so days, sand down the table, and get it res-tained so it's just done." Hmm... I looked at him and said, "Okay, but once you start it, please just work on it && get it done, if not, it can wait." Like what I said mattered at all.. LoL.
Needless to say. Eleven months ago we moved here && started this table, and I put it in our living room today. (= We thought that this table would only take a little while to sand, that alone took seven [7] months to finish. How did the staining take another four [4]? We thought that this table would only take two or three coats of stain, well, with the way we worked, it took SIX. Sanding in between coats is supposed to make sure that you have a nice even/non drip finish. Well, we suck! After three coats we noticed that the drips looked awful, so we sand by hand, and walla, the drips disappear. All three coats of them. LoL. So of course we have these spots of just oak all over the table.. so then we do three coats on those areas, and sand again. Why it took us two more coats to be happy, and a final with a good brush, beasts me. All I know is, for eleven months I had been arranging my house around an invisible table. So today when it was FINALLY dried && finished, I had to rearrange my living room. Our real motivation sadly, was that Nana && Gpa are coming down to visit for

Thanksgiving. Nana pointed out if we didn't finish it, Gpa would just take a day && get it all done... man, how depressing is that? I guess we really suck at "simple" projects.. LoL. If they take longer than a day, they're not for us! Unless of course you give us a support team of cheerleaders! d=

Lol! I know it was a trial, but honestly it was worth the extra time it took . . . it looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks. i really like having it back! && I LOVE the lay out since I had to rearrange LoL
